Waiver
I acknowledge that somatic breathwork and vibrational sound baths are a deep and powerful process. I have notified the practitioners of any physical injuries, mental or psychological conditions I have. I engage in this experience willingly and voluntarily, and take full responsibility for my own physical, mental, and emotional experiences during and after the session.
Contraindications for somatic breathwork
Somatic breathwork is intended as a personal growth experience and should not be looked upon as a substitute for psychotherapy.
It is not appropriate for the following populations:
Pregnant people
Persons currently experiencing any of the following:
Cardiovascular problems, including angina or heart attack
High blood pressure
Glaucoma
Retinal detachment
Osteoporosis
History of seizures or stroke
Major psychiatric conditions
Recent surgery
Acute infectious illness
Epilepsy
If you have any doubt about whether you should participate, please consult with your primary care physician. Persons with asthma should bring their inhaler and consult with their primary care physician.
Contraindications for vibrational sound baths
Vibrational sound baths are intended for relaxation and well-being and should not be looked upon as a substitute for psychotherapy or medical treatment. By signing this waiver you acknowledge that a sound bath is a meditative experinece involving sound frequencies from instruments such as singing bowls, gongs, chimes, an d other tools. Occasionally sound baths may be activating of the nervous system and can push folks outside of their window of tolerance. While generally safe, sound baths have some contraindications, and may not be appropriate for the following populations:
Pregnant people (especially first trimester)
Persons currently experiencing any of the following:
Epilepsy or seizures, particularly those triggered by sound
Severe clinical mental health conditions
Medical implants, such as pacemakers, defibrillators, deep brain stimulation (DBS) devices, metal plates or implants, or others
Thrombosis or blood clot issues
Parkinson’s disease
Artery or vein diseases, such as carotid atherosclerosis
Nerve damage
Cautions are included for folks experiencing:
Sound sensitivity - if you have heightened sound sensitivity or tinnitus, consider using earplugs or sitting further away from the singing bowls
Hearing aids - some frequencies of the sound bowls may cause them to buzz or whistle
Do not participate if you are intoxicated or under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs
I affirm that I am in good health and that I have disclosed any relevant medical conditions, including but not limited to epilepsy, a pacemaker, tinnitus, pregnancy, or any mental health concerns that may be affected by the sound vibrations. I understand that I should consult my physician if I have any concerns about participating. I acknowledge that while sound baths and somatic breathwork are generally safe, they may have varying effects on individuals. I assume full responsibility for any physical, mental, or emotional effects that may arise during or after the session.
Release
I hereby release and hold harmless Joanna Smith and MVMT.CO, PLLC from any and all results that arise during or from the somatic release breathwork and sound bath. I waive all rights under law regarding the same. I or my representative(s) agree to full release and hold Joanna Smith and MVMT.CO, PLLC harmless from and against any and all claims or liability of whatsoever kind or nature arising out of or in connection with my session(s). I release and hold harmless Joanna Smith and MVMT.CO, PLLC, its facilitators, employees, and any associated venues from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action related to my participation in the session.
